"Dare to Dream Courage to Live (MLK Jr. Tribute)"

about

"Dare to Dream Courage to Live" is a special tribute song I'm dedicating to all people (especially of color) and MLK on MLK Day 2021. May we continue to live with this kind of God-sourced courage and dare to dream the dreams that enable better lives and hope-filled futures.

Martin Luther King Jr.'s spirit and significant legacy will live on, as does the progress he impactfully instituted through peaceful protests, important speeches, and marches to move the masses closer towards freedom.

He dared to dream a dream of equality and justice for people of all colors. Thanks to this man of the deepest integrity and honor, the American south will never be the same. America will never be the same. Our lives have been influenced for the better thanks to this great man's lasting legacy in active pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

His response to the oppression and inhumane treatment of African Americans was not a visceral one of hate and malice. He did not succumb to bringing his adversaries and opponents down because of the unfathomable injustices. And, in addition to civil rights, MLK combatted poverty and confronted capitalism.

He did not wage war with those against him, but instead turned to God for his strength + support. And, God lead him to lead us forward. A Baptist minister, divinely lead, he was a humble, loving, real man with real character. And, we reflect, remember, commemorate, and celebrate the blessings bestowed on us with many more to come.

May we treat all humans equally and with respect and not judge others. Whatever the pigments in our skin, our size or stature, race, gender, and other factors, we were all created equal, endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable human rights. Love knows no bounds and we are loved by Him.

As, Michael Jackson sang in "Black or White," it don't matter if you're black or white. (Or yellow or red or green like Kermit or any other shade of the rainbow).

lyrics

“Dare to Dream Courage to Live (MLK Jr. Tribute)” - Susan B. B. Schabacker

Feel this love in my heart
Hear this truth on my lips
As He delivers His speeches
And I sing this song

I will dare to dream
God will grant me the courage to live
As I stand up for what’s right
I will live live live

And shine my light bright
I will fight the good fight of peace
I have a dream (2x)

The whirlwinds of revolt
That shake the foundations of our nation
Will cease with peace
As the bright day of justice emerges

I will dare to dream
God will grant me the courage to live
As I stand up for what’s right
I will live live live

And shine my light bright
I will fight the good fight of peace
I have a dream (2x)

My beacon of light is filled hope
Scorched by the withering flame of injustice
With the joyous daybreak
A civil equal rights outbreak

I will dare to dream
God will grant me the courage to live
As I stand up for what’s right
I will live live live

And shine my light bright
I will fight the good fight of peace
I have a dream (2x)

We aim for the riches of freedom
We strive for the security of justice

After the storm
Here comes the sun
As a rainbow lights up the sky
A new day has dawned

Bringing hope to a long dark night
As the captives take their
First breaths of true freedom

“I have a dream
Let Freedom ring”
MLK Jr.
