Worthy Woman 05:59
“Worthy Woman” - Susan BB Schabacker You were at your wit’s end Burned out ready to give up on all men But you kept hoping and going As a strong worthy woman Can I get an “amen” You wanted to hide your face Wishing someone would take your place Weighted down by the heavy load you bore Wanting it all to change hoping for more And it felt like the end Trapped inside a mistake Wondering what having This baby would take But you don’t have to hide From blessings in disguise No need to close your eyes And wish you weren’t here So let go of regret And toss your cares aside There are people who love you Within whom you can confide No need to let your heart grow bitter Or resent the ones who did you wrong Look forward to a brighter future And do your best to move along So let yourself rest Cause you deserve the best This has felt like a test But have faith it’s for the best I was the baby you were meant to have Even though it felt unplanned I am a better person thanks to you Got to have faith in God’s great plan
3.
“Red Flags White Flag” – Susan B. B. Schabacker Your red flags were warning signs Trapping me into a bind So I wave a white flag of surrender Pleading for a ceasefire And I’m tired of your constant lies I see them flicker flashing in your eyes Why do you keep leading me on I will not be tagging along My eyes are open and I see your red flags Now I am waving a white flag I’m so sick of all your drama Been through way too much trauma You are really not my type So please refrain from all the hype This is just not cool Don’t want you to play me for a fool And I’m tired of your foolish lies I see them flicker flashing in your eyes Why do you keep leading me on I will not be tugged along My eyes are open and I see your red flags Now I am waving a white flag I’m so sick of all your drama Been through way too much trauma Pushing past all the doubt I am done I am out Not gonna take this anymore I am bruised I am sore And I’m tired of your evil lies I see them flicker flashing in your eyes Why do you keep leading me on I will not be strung along My eyes are open and I see your red flags Now I am waving a white flag I’m sick of all your drama Been through way too much trauma Threw your letters and photos into the fire Letting the flames take them away I just want the memories to fade away Oh I want the memories to fade away Those little things you do are getting under my skin And what you said is sinking sinking in The way you see me Is exactly who I do not want to be But I’ve got to be free Free to be Free to be me Free to be me

about

Growing Seeds in Mama’s Garden of Love (Susan’s 7th album to support Salem Pregnancy) is a poetic and nostalgic organic album with Southern country roots, digging deep into fertile soil that nourishes. In this garden analogy, we each started out as tiny seeds, which developed with the right care, into saplings (and beyond).

And, like our Mama’s love, we desperately need the minerals in this nutrient-dense soil essential to growth, sun that encourages the plants’ growth, water that hydrates, weeding that keeps the plants protected, and pruning that maintains them.

I’m happy and honored to team up with such talented, dedicated, and heartfull musical collaborators to share my 7th album just in time for Mother’s Day, to support local charitable non-profit org, Salem Pregnancy. They are committed to providing resources for pregnant women and babies through early development, as well as empowering women with a Christian mission and message, as I also share in many of my songs. Here a link to the Salem Pregnancy website: salempregnancy.org and Facebook page: www.facebook.com/SalemPregnancyCareCenter

Genres/styles of this album honoring moms resonate with a fusion of: Folk/Christian/Southern/Country/Pop Rock/Americana/Bluegrass/Blues Rock, with organic elements. Susan has been influenced by all of these and excited about the prospect of weaving them all together, like swatches in a patchwork quilt. She has also been inspired by her recent residence with her mother in the Southern countryside of Colfax, NC.

“I’ve have always loved the country and city equally, but what sets country living apart to me includes: nature’s symphony of crickets chirping, frogs croaking, birds singing, and cicadas humming in the summer, glancing up at the sky at night and seeing all the stars, picking out farm fresh local foods at the farmers markets, and the list goes on," says Susan, reminiscing with a smile.

Susan may be an Asian American, who grew up on the East Coast of the US of A, but she also associates as a sweet Southern belle and is enjoying exploring her country side in music.

Each special original song on this Mother’s Day album is dedicated to mothers and highlights songwriting topics including: motherly roles and maternal identity, garden analogy, pregnancy and motherhood, mother’s love, adoption, bonds between mother and baby throughout many stages of development, and etc.

Special thanks to local radio station WTOB (980 AM + 96.3 FM) good guys, Dr. Jon and Ken Hauser, who included "You Help Me Be Me (Piano Version)" and interviewed featured guests Artimus Pyle (Lynard Skinnard’s drummer and Artimus Pyle band) and Gary Maverick (Gary Maverick Band). We’re honored to include 2 original songs of Gary’s that Artimus collaborated on drums/percussion from Gary's Down Home album, as compilation contributions (“When The Cold Wind Blows” and “Down Home.")

We are also happy to include 2 collaboration and compilation contribution originals by Grammy-nominated bluegrass banjoist and music educator, Pete Wernick, also known in the music world as “Dr. Banjo.” Pete humbly and heartfully contributed a song dedicated and inspired by his mother, also considered a #1 bluegrass banjo song, “Ruthie” (from his country album On A Roll). He also shared his banjo instrumentals on my brand new song “Our Love Goes On For All Of Time” that includes Tommy Maher’s, of the Fireside Collective, beautiful dobro.

"This is an album that, whether you’re a mother or not, I hope you can appreciate that tugs at your heartstrings and resonates on the deepest levels of heart and soul."

Muse-ically,
Susan B. B. Schabacker
